Can I repeat a class?

Repeating a Class

As of July 1, 2012, per state regulations, students will be allowed only three (3) attempts to pass a course at Cabrillo. This means if you have attempted the same course three or more times and received any combination of grades  “D”, “F”, “NC”, “NP” or “W” you will be unable to retake the course at Cabrillo College.

If you have attempted a course two times already, we encourage you to take advantage of support services available to you such as tutoring, math, and other services in the integrated learning centers. Learning Communities and study skills courses or labs help with your success.

Permission to enroll in a course beyond three times will only be considered due to a documented extenuating circumstance*, a significant lapse of time, or a course legally mandated for training/employment requirements.

* Extenuating Circumstances are defined as documented cases of accidents, illnesses or other circumstances beyond the control of the student that necessitate extended absences for a course(s).

For more complete information, please see Repeating a Course or Admissions and Records.
